Despite her round, stout frame, Emily seems rather healthy. But once or twice a month, her nannies and the medical team take her to the hospital for a blood transfusion. Emily’s blood condition requires a bone marrow transplant that cannot be performed here in China. As she waits to be adopted, Emily attends the clinic preschool and enjoys daily playtime outside. Though a little shy at first, patience rewards many a guest with a huge ear-to-ear smile of delight. |
