| Dear friends of PHF, FAMILY FOSTER CARE PROGRAM In April of this year, the Tianjin Orphanage implemented a new policy that required all of their kids that we are caring for in the children's village to be moved into family foster homes. The timing was amazing because God gave us a vision to start a family foster care program of our own. So on May 11th, we launched our first family foster care program in cooperation with the Tianjin Orphanage. Twenty-two of our children moved to their new homes and met their new foster families for the very first time. The new homes are set up as a normal family environment. Each home has a mom and dad, who have been trained to care for children with special needs, and up to four siblings. The older children attend school in the local community. All of the twenty-two children we support in this program will remain eligible for the international adoption program. We are confident that each of them will one day have a forever family of their very own. WORK IN TRANSITION With the launch of our new family foster care program, we continue to transition our work from the Langfang Children's Village to our new facility at Shepherd's Field. Last spring we moved the House of Peace and Samaritan’s House from Langfang to Shepherd's Field. This month, we moved the remaining kids from Luke's House and House of Joy to the homes at Shepherd's Field. By the end of this year, we will move the last remaining Langfang house, House of Love, to Shepherd's Field. SHEPHERD'S FIELD EXPANSION ![]() ![]() Currently, we are constructing 3 new children's homes, and in September we will begin to build a vocational training center, a school, and an outreach center. The new homes will not only accommodate the younger children age infant to six years, but also older special needs orphans ages 12-18. The children in this age bracket will be eligible to attend our vocational training center where they can learn skills that will help to provide them with hope and a purposeful future. 17 NEW CHILDREN COMING SOON We have seventeen new children, ages 3 to 18 months old, arriving in the next few weeks. This group of five girls and twelve boys suffer from a variety of special needs conditions, including cleft lips/palates, heart defects, orthopedic problems, and other issues. All of these children will need six sponsors to cover the cost of their daily care at Shepherd's Field. HELP A CHINESE ORPHAN TODAY! RUMORS To borrow a quote from Mark Twain, "the rumors of our death have been greatly exaggerated." With all the new changes we are going through, it is easy to understand how rumors are circulated on the Internet about our state of affairs. To dispel these rumors, let us say right here that we are not closing down our work nor are we having to leave China. While it is true that we are restructuring the way we do our work, the truth is that our work is increasing, not decreasing. We will continue to accept any children the state-run orphanages send to us, and we will continue to provide those children with the love they need in a nurturing environment until such time that they get adopted or grow up to become part of society. Our commitment is stronger than ever to work together with the Chinese government to provide for the needs of special needs orphans in this country. We are very grateful for your continual prayer and financial support as we grow this work to help more children in need.
