Visiting Shepherd’s Field as part of a team is a life-changing experience. With housing available on-site, visiting teams provide helping hands to complete projects in maintaining our grounds, cleaning, sorting, and of course, interacting with our children. Transportation? Tours? Teams are welcome any time of the year, but must be arranged with guest relations. For more information, contact us or submit a Team Application. Come join the fun!

The Eagles Landed

Our first international team of 2019 was from Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy near Atlanta, Georgia. The group arrived on April 1st (no joke!) and was made up of mostly high school students, a couple faculty members and an accompanying parent. The team was led by Lauren, a wonderful tour guide with Joshua Expeditions.

This was ELCA’s first visit to our campus and every member of the team rolled up his and her sleeves, diving into projects to both renovate and beautify our buildings and grounds. First they removed all the tables and stools from the Outreach Center, and then they tore up the old flooring so the new tile could be installed. They built garden beds at the back of our campus and then spent the afternoon filling them with soil in preparation for planting. The team eagerly helped with various tasks in the greenhouse as well. Lastly, they gave the equipment on the playground a good cleaning. It was great to see the playground sparkling after a dusty fall and winter!

We appreciate the whole group and all their hard work, and we look forward to their being able to return someday. Thank you, Team ELCA!
